Welcome to Saint James School. We are one of the oldest co-educational Episcopal boarding Schools in the United States, founded in 1842, with an established tradition of academic excellence. As you peruse the pages of this website, I hope you will gain a sense of what makes Saint James such a remarkable place.
We are dedicated to preparing students for college and providing them with a challenging, yet rich and rewarding high school (grades 8-12) experience. Our scenic, Georgian-style campus is situated on several hundred acres, and located near Hagerstown, Maryland, a little over an hour from the nation's capital. Our students enjoy an inspiring setting in which to live and learn.
There is so much to know about Saint James School. From our rich spiritual tradition in the Anglican tradition to our inclusive culture and welcoming community to our array of athletic, artistic, musical, and student life activities to our classic core curriculum, Saint James provides a broad and deep foundation that allows our students to thrive and to grow into young adults with purpose and promise for the future.
Both rigorous and supportive, our programs stimulate and challenge students to develop their strengths and to cultivate and improve their skills in multiple disciplines. Saint James provides a solid liberal arts education with electives for enrichment and the exploration of new interests. Here, each student is important, and empowered with the opportunity to participate in smaller classes, and to learn from our dedicated faculty—faculty who truly go above and beyond the call of duty to support and challenge each and every one of our students in and beyond our classrooms.
If you can imagine a school where students are encouraged to try new things, live in community, and discover what they can do, then you would have an idea of what makes Saint James School so remarkable. I hope you will come visit us in order to see Saint James for yourself.
